Orange Alert Issued for Weather in Montpellier

Météo France has issued an orange alert for heavy rain and flooding in and around Montpellier starting this afternoon and for the next 3 days. The forecase indicates that the most difficult conditions will be to the west of Montpellier, but it is important to stay vigilant.

Montpellier Research Study Shows Mediterranean Diet Prevents Depression

Researchers from INSERM (Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale) and the University of Montpellier show in a study published in the Molecular Psychiatry journal this week that Mediterranean diet is associated with a 33% reduction in the risk of depression.

The Mediterranean diet is rich in fruits and vegetables, fish and grains. The study also shows that a diet rich in saturated fats, sugar and processed foods is associated with a higher risk of depression.

Depression affects over 300 million people across the world, touching 7% of women and 4% of men.

College/University Fair at the Corum on Saturday, October 13

The French web site Studyrama is hosting its annual college/university fair at the Corum in Montpellier on October 13 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. More than 400 different higher education options will be presented, in partnership with the CROUS (regional center of student services) and the Ministry of Higher Education.
