Demonstration to Support Migrants

This afternoon in Montpellier more than 150 people joined the collective Bienvenue Migrants 34 to demonstrate their support for migrants in France. They marched from the Place de la Comédie to the Préfecture and chanted “Stop Dublin, stop expulsions, droit d’asile et régularisation” or “Stop the Dublin (regulation), stop expulsions, right to asylum and regularization (of visas for migrants).

The Dublin regulation allows a country such as France to send a migrant back to the first country of entry into Europe – most often Italy or Spain. Then that first country of entry will examine the case of the migrant’s right to asylum.
